Who Are We?

What happens at the meetings?

Where do we meet?

Letchworth Writers (formally the Letchworth Writers Group) are a collection of writers who hold monthly meetings where we get together to talk about the various aspects of creative writing.

This website will act as an adjunct to the monthly meetings, with content being added and/or changed on a regular basis.

Where do we meet?

We meet between 7.30 and 9.30 on the first Tuesday of every month in the Underwood Room, Mrs Howard Hall, Letchworth.

Our meetings are relaxed and fun, and we welcome would-be and established writers. In fact, we welcome anyone with a passion for the written word, whatever their skill level. Members of our group include published novelists, short story writers, journalists, screen-writers and playwrights, as well as people who just write for fun but want to improve their skills.

The first meeting you attend is free. Subsequently there is a monthly £4 fee for LALG members and a £5 fee for non-members

What happens at the meetings? We write together using a short exercise and read our work aloud (not compulsory!).

We set a monthly subject and members are encouraged to write a piece for the next meeting. How you interpret the subject and the format and length of your piece of writing is entirely up to you.

We encourage our writers to submit their monthly pieces onto our Dropbox site where other members can read them prior to our meetings and then comment on them.

There is also a Feedback folder on the Dropbox site for members to offer criticism and encouragement in more detail, or at greater length.

We now have our own Facebook group and I'd encourage all members and non-members to take a look and join the group. All are welcome. The Facebook link is directly below.
